Ben MudieMelbourne, Australia
Ben first took up running in 2013 and it changed his life. He now wants to share that with others.

He is an experienced runner across cross country, track and road racing with a preference towards longer distance events. He’s completed 3 marathons including Gold Coast, Melbourne and Great Ocean Road and many half marathons and shorter events.

  • Qualified coach with Athletics Australia – Level 1 Run Leader and Level 2 Recreational Running
  • Familiar with a wide variety of coaching philosophies including the Australian method, Lydiard, Jack Daniels and Pfitzinger to name a few. Influenced by other coaches and athletes, mainly through his club Western Athletics.

As an obsessed runner you will often find Ben reading running books, magazines, listening to running podcasts, attending seminars on running, reading forums and chatting to people about running.

Outside of training and coaching, Ben has been on the Western Athletics Committee for 8 years. Ben is currently serving as President of his athletics club and serves to create a fun and inclusive environment whilst allowing people to achieve their goals.

Ben doesn’t think any coach or runner knows it all, there is always things to learn and different approaches to take in training.

Ben considers himself an average runner, not naturally talented but enjoys running and improving on his own times. Ben’s PBs are:

  • 800m: 2:39
  • 1500m: 5:26
  • 3000m: 12:00.6
  • 5km: 21:13
  • 10km: 44:13
  • Half Marathon: 1:41:44
  • Marathon: 3:46:53
